NUCLEAR: IRAN TELLS TOKYO IT WON'T SUSPEND NUCLEAR RESEARCH
Iranian foreign minister Manoucher Mottaki on Monday responded to Japan's calls that it stop uranium enrichment on its territory by saying that Tehran could not suspend atomic research and development. Mottaki is in Japan for a three-day visit. "We have been conducting nuclear research and development on a laboratory scale and it's impossible for us to suspend this again," Mottaki was quoted as telling his Japanese counterpart Taro Aso by a Japanese foreign ministry official.
