Vietnam to reduce crude oil, coal exports
VietNamNet – During 2006-2010, Vietnam will focus on boosting high value-added exports rather than crude oil and raw materials.
The Ministry of Trade (MoT) is currently compiling an export plan for 2006-2010, according to which, the volume of high intelligence-content exports will rise, while raw materials and minerals will decrease.
Agricultural, forestry products and seafood will account for 19.1% of total exports in 2006, and the ratio will be down to 13.7% in 2010. Meanwhile, industrial products, fine arts and handicrafts will increase to 45.9% and 54.1% in 2006 and 2010 respectively.
Crude oil and coal exports will see a sharp decrease from 21% in 2006 to 9.6% in 2010. Export turnover from oil exports will begin decreasing from 2009 as a portion will serve the operation of local oil refineries.
