Hybrids, new fuels might be too late for mass market

All the hype about detaching ourselves from fossil fuels, the unpredictability of gas prices and the possibility of turning to either ethanol or hybrid-fuel cars as an alternative, has created an energy enigma for the every-day driver.

Fuel costs have largely impacted Nevada drivers because the state has the third highest gas prices (Hawaii and California are first and second, respectively) in the nation, according to CNNmoney.com. The average price per gallon in the valley is $2.40, but who knows where is will go from here. If gas reaches $3, $4 or $5 a gallon, will hybrid vehicles or ethanol-powered cars be the answer to lower pump prices?
